Obituary for Jimmy Dean Wood
Jimmy Dean Wood, 79, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away, Sunday August 29, 2021 at his home in Altus, Oklahoma.
Jimmy was born May 23, 1942, in Ada, Oklahoma to Loy Lawton Wood and Olive Belle Wood. He graduated from Vanoss Highschool, following high school he attended and graduated from Oklahoma State University. Upon graduating from college, he started working for Farmers Home Administration as a loan officer. He retired from FmHA in 1996. In 1982, Jimmy started Altus Sweeping service. Jimmy was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Altus, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Altus and ran the spotlight for Miss Altus Pageant for thirty years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was an avid reader, and enjoyed traveling the country.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawton Wood and Olive Belle his in-laws, and his wife Marian (Martin) Wood.
Left to honor is memory are his two daughters, Kim Hancock and husband Tony of Anadarko, Oklahoma, Kahla White and husband Mike of Blair, Oklahoma, two brothers, Lynn Wood and wife Donna of Ada, Oklahoma, Glenn Wood and wife Marilyn of Wichita Falls, Texas, grandchildren, Tyler Hancock and wife Natalie of Riverside, California, Taylor Hancock of Gracemont, Oklahoma, Hunter Fink and husband Jordan of Hockley, Texas, Megan Stallings and husband Jake of Lawton, Oklahoma, Shelby Rosin and husband Alex of Roosevelt, Oklahoma, Cole White and wife Krista of Altus, Oklahoma, eight great grandchildren, Ava Hancock, Dox Stallings, Roman Fink, Callie Stallings, Loraina Rosin, Clara Rosin, Tucker Hancock, Waylon White; Special Friend, Sharon Ford; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
A come and go visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Lowell – Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Altus City Cemetery, Altus, Oklahoma.
