Obituary for Jimmy Martinez
Santiago "Jimmy" Martinez, age 59, longtime resident of Olustee, Oklahoma and formerly of Blair, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 in Amarillo, Texas.
Jimmy was born in Altus on July 6, 1961 to his parents, Ray Martinez and Escolastica "Nikki" (Roblez) Martinez. Jimmy attended Altus Public Schools and was a proud graduate of the Class of 1980 from Blair High School. He grew up in the Catholic faith and was a Christian saved by God's grace. Jimmy was a cowboy at heart. He farmed and ranched his whole life. He worked as a mechanic for Wilmes and most recently was a forklift operator at the PCCA in Altus for the last eight years. Jimmy enjoyed going to rodeos, team roping, being outdoors while fishing and camping. In his down time he enjoyed riding in the country and listening to music with a cold beer in his hand. Jimmy loved his family and spending time with his friends. He will be missed very much.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his mother Escolastica “Nikki†Martinez; grandson, Kayden Lennox in 2011; his lifelong friends, Troy Farr, Jessie Farr, and his best companion, JP.
Jimmy is survived by his lifelong partner, Bonita Akers of their home in Olustee; his father, Ray Martinez; two sons, Justin Martinez and his wife Randa; Trey Martinez; his daughter, Bobbie Martinez; stepchildren, JR Garcia and his wife Michelle; Fera Garcia; Bobby Garcia; and Chantilly Garcia; three brothers, Ramiro Martinez and his wife Vivian; Adolfo Martinez and his wife Anita; and Martin Martinez and his wife Carol; one sister, Ellie Hand and her husband David; grandchildren, Hayden, Bryceton, Hunter, Preston, Allison, Braylee, Kyler, Huntlee, Dawson, Hesston, Devaughn, Raylen, Boston, and Daylen; nieces and nephews, Denise, Aaron, Trevor, Levi, Nicklas and his wife Madalyn, Morgan and her husband Lafe, Mitchell and his wife Alison, Tyler, Lindsey and her husband Beau, and Takara and her husband Montea; lifelong friend, Calvin Yocham; numerous other family members and many friends.
The family will greet friends at visitation from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Monday evening, February 22, 2021 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel in Altus.
Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus.
