Joan Coriene Coleman, age 84, of Altus, passed away late Sunday evening, May 18, 2014, at her residence, in Altus

Mrs. Coleman was born in Mineola, Texas on April 12, 1930, to Leroy and Jossie Lee (Russell) Grant. Growing up and attending school in Mineola, she moved to Altus in the mid 1950’s to be near her sister. In June of 1961, she married Billy Eugene Coleman and he preceded her in death on July 27, 1968. A homemaker all of her life, Joan enjoyed cooking, cleaning, playing cards, Monopoly and spending time with her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three daughters, Mary Allen, Dorothy Joe and Billie Carol; three sisters, Dorothy, Jossie Lee and Mary and one brother, Ross Earl, she is survived by one daughter Delisa Pitts of Altus; four grandchildren, Johnny Danner of Altus, Diasishia Danner of Altus, Alexus Pitts of Altus and Joe Lynn Coleman of Altus; one sister, Ethyl Ray of Altus; Loyd Preston Grant of Lawton along with many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Joan Coleman will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 22, 2014, at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
