Joseph "Joe" Wesley Cornett, 96, of Harmon County, Oklahoma, passed away on June 17, 2024. Born on November 19, 1927, on family farm in Harmon County, Oklahoma, Joe proudly served in the Army 8th Calvary as a machine
gunner during the occupation of Japan after WWII. He was honored with the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan for his dedicated service. Throughout his life, Joe owned and operated the family farm in Harmon & Greer County, Oklahoma, and in 2023, the family farm was recognized as a Centennial Farm by the state of Oklahoma. Joe's commitment to his country and his family was unwavering.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Ruby Moore Cornett, of 75 years and his children: Kathy Milligan and husband Malcolm of Edmond, OK, Ralph Cornett of Boerne, TX, Randy Cornett and wife Bonnie of Gould, OK, Ron Cornett
and wife Carolyn of Collinsville, OK, Steve Cornett and wife Becky of Harmon County, OK. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-granddaughters.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Clara Lanford Cornett, his siblings A.H. Cornett, Robert Cornett, Wilma Cornett Moon, Bill Cornett, his granddaughters Stephanie Cornett Slack, Brackelle Cornett, and his grandson Andrew Cornett.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 33.
A Come and go visitation will be 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Russell Cemetery, Russell, Oklahoma.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.
