Joe Mac Floyd
Joe Mac Floyd, age 64, of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2006, at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma.
He was born June 25, 1942, in Frederick, Oklahoma. He was the son of Robert and Loraine Stallings Floyd. In his youth, he worked construction on grain elevators. He joined the United States Marine Corp where he proudly served his country. During his service in the Marine Corp, he was a Marine Corp recruiter for the state of New Mexico. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam where he received two Purple Hearts for his actions. He was also stationed in Hawaii and Pensacola, Florida. Joe Mac was honorably discharged after twenty years one month and one day, having gone in as a captain as an enlisted man and retiring as a captain with honors.
He received the Purple Heart Medal W-1, Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Mast, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal w-2, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w-1, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w- palm, Republic of Vietnam meritorious Unit Citation Civil Action 1st class w- palm, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w-date.
Joe Mac married Gladys Darlene Mitchell on June 28, 1963, in Albuquerque, New Mexico and to this union two children were born.
He attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and pastored churches in Alabama, Florida and Oklahoma.
