Obituary for John Coontz
John Coontz age 66, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away February 25, 1964 in the Memorial Hospital. He was born February 18, 1898 in Throckmorton, Texas to Peter Allen and Mary Elizabeth (Clay) Coontz. He married Jewel Rogers March 31. 1920 in Benjamin, Texas. He had been a resident of southwest Oklahoma since 1921. John was a veteran of World War I, a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. He was a farmer and trucker.

Funeral services for John Coontz are scheduled at 2;30pm February 25, 1964 in the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Altus, Oklahoma officiated by Rev. Alvin Lay. Burial will follow in the Altus Cemetery under the directions of Tims Funeral Home.

John Coontz is survived by his wife Jewel of the home in Altus, Oklahoma; two brothers, Allen Coontz, Amarillo, Texas; Abb Coontz, Ft. Worth, Texas; one sister, Mary Barnett, Haskell, Texas; several nieces and nephews.
