Jon's been around forever
'Least it seems that way to me.
Since they turned us loose on Lincoln
With the Johnson's and the Gee's.

We shared our toys and troubles
Shared our families and friends.
Every teenage boy alive
Needs to know an Uncle Glenn!

Some childhood buddies scatter
On time's unending tide.
But, some bonds just won't be broken.
Some knots can't be untied.

Jon's woven in a lifetime now
Of fifty some odd years.
Shared smiles and fun and happiness
We've shed our share of tears.

In the Club of Life's Micfortunes
Ol' Ernie paid his dues.
Fought battles with the demons
Some he'd win and some he'd lose.

But he rode the broncs life gave him
The best that he knew how.
I’m sure glad that's all behind him.
The hard parts over now.

They say that Heavens pretty with
Gold pavers on the street,
Cherubs playing harps and wearing
Robes all nice and neat.

But I somehow picture Ernie
Just trottin' light along,
Prowlin' through some cattle
Spurs jinglein' a song.

Or at an old time rodeo
With banners all unfurled.
He's ridin' free and easy
Not a worry in this world.

The smiles go on forever
God's grace will never end.
Keep a fast horse saddled for me........
I'll see ya later Friend.
