BOBERT
Chief Master Sergeant Jon Lance Bobert, age 68 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Jon was born in Rockford, Illinois on January 9, 1948 to his parents Morris Edward and Dorothy Marie (Shelly) Bobert. The family lived in several towns in Wisconsin and shortly after graduating high school Jon volunteered to serve his country in the United States Air Force from August 5, 1966 until August 31, 1996. Jon received numerous awards and decorations including the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 devices and he also served during Desert Shield/Desert Storm and retired in 1996 with over 30 years achieving the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E-9). He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion and enjoyed watching NASCAR. Most of time Jon could be found visiting with his neighbors and helping them with their yard work or anything else they might need. But most of all Jon enjoyed his time serving at the Altus Christian Academy and even as his health was failing he continued to serve.
Preceded in death by his parents and his half-brother, Richard Bobert; Jon is survived by his daughter, Dorey Tabor and husband Josh of Pennsylvania and his son Nathan Bobert of Altus; seven brothers, Raymond, Larry, Jerry, Robert, Ken, Scott, and Ronald Bobert; four sisters, Judy Miller, Maureen Wochner, Shellye Mihulka, and Lisa Dohlman; six grandchildren, Bealia, Ayla, Esli, Allison, Lauren, and Courtney; special friend, Cindy Taff of Altus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
