Obituary for Jonathan Glen Travis

Jonathan Glen Travis, 41, lifelong resident of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away on October 2, 2025, in Mangum.

Jon was born in Poteau, Oklahoma, on August 2, 1984. The beloved son of Bob and Jane Travis. He was raised and educated in Mangum, where he developed a deep love for agriculture and livestock. From an early age, Jon was actively involved in FFA and found joy in showing livestock, a passion that he carried with him throughout his life. At the age of 11, Jon dedicated his life to Christ through baptism at the Mangum Church of Christ, a commitment that guided him throughout his life. Jon married Kelsey Gahagan in August 2010, from this marriage, the two were blessed with three children, Luci, Jagger, and Molli.

He went on to build a career in aircraft mechanics, first serving at Tinker Air Force Base and later at Altus Air Force Base, where he became a respected supervisor on the KC-135. Known for his hard work, leadership, and loyalty, Jon was proud of the friendships he built with his KC-135 crew.

Beyond his work, Jon will be remembered for his generous spirit and his love of cooking and serving others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially to the youth of Mangum as they prepared their show cattle. His greatest joy came from time spent with his children, especially traveling with his daughter Luci to stock shows.

Jon is preceded in death by his grandparents, Walt and Willene Griffis, and James and LaDean Travis.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Bob and Jane Travis; his children, Luci Belle Travis, Molli Jac Travis, and Jagger Wright Travis; his sister, Jill Nippert, and husband Jeff; and his niece, Jacey Nippert. He is also survived by extended family members and his KC-135 crew at Altus Air Force Base, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Jon will be remembered for his devotion to family, his generosity toward others, and the lasting impact he made on his community and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Mangum Ag Program.
