Obituary for Josefina Juarez Carrisalez
Josefina Carrisalez Josefina Carrrisalez, 65, longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, December 6th, 2000 at the Integris Baptist Medical Center i Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Rosary services have been scheduled for 6:30 PM, Friday, December 8, 2000 at the Lowell-Tims Chapel. Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 9,2000 in the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Joseph Jacobi officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery. Josefina was born June 5, 1935 in Rio Hondo, Texas to Jose A. and Blasita (Sandoval) Juarez. On August 26, 1956, Josefina and Jose Carrisalez were united in Marriage in Rio Hondo. They moved to Altus in 1962. Mrs. Carrisalez worked for several years for the Jackson County Health Department with Family Planning. She later joined the Altus School System as a Clerk. She was very involved in Community Action, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was a Religious Education Teacher for the Prince of Pease, Co-founder of Hispanics of Education and Culture Awareness, former member of the G. l. Forum, and Founder of Altus Folkloric Dancers. Josefina was a Chaplain and member of the League of United Latin American Citizens and was very active in her church and with her church family. She was also very devoted to her family, who were the joy of her life. Josefina was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Jose of the home in Altus; four children, Elloid J. Carrisalez of Duke, Oklahoma, Daniel Carrisalez and his wife Jeaneen of Blair, Oklahoma, Orlando Carrisalez of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Leonel Carrisalez of Altus, Oklahoma. seven Sisters and six brothers. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Christa Carrisalez Teresa Carrisalez and Jessica Carrisalez; Two grandsons, Justin Carrisalez and Jared Carrisalez; one Step-grandson, Steven Jackson and one step-great-grandson, Jasper Chase Jackson.
