Obituary for Joseph Franklin Smart
Joseph Franklin (Frank) Smart was born November 7, 1912 at Sugar Creek, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Joe and Ruby Wilson Smart. He died October 13, 1997 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
He had been a resident of Altus and Jackson County sine 1954. He married Myrna Wylma Burba, April 8, 1939 at Frederick, Oklahoma, and she preceded him in death July 22, 1993. He married Dorris Moore, February 16, 1994 at Altus, Oklahoma.
frank served in the Us Navy during World War II. He was a long time businessman in Altus. He owned and operated Smart Oldsmobile from 1965 until he retired in 1988. He was a long time active member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Altus. He was a member of the Elks, Kiwanis, and Chamber of Commerce.
Interment will take place at 10am Wednesday October 15, 1997 at the Altus City Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 11am Wednesday October 15, 1997 at the 1st United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Pate officiating. Memorials in honor of Frank Smart may be made to the 1st United Methodist Building Fund. Lowell-Tims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife Dorris Smart of the home; children; Myrna Ruffner and husband Bill of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother Edwin B. Smart of Midwest City, Oklahoma; sister Leota Johnson of Visalia, California; grandson, Casey William Ruffner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Sybel Smart of Hanford, California.
Preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife; Myrna Wylma Burba Smart 7-22-1993.
