Obituary for Joseph Lee Bailey
Joseph Lee Bailey, 76, of Headrick, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Joe was born December 27, 1932, in Nashville, Kansas to James and Cora (Newberry) Bailey. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955. Joe married Mildred Cain in 1960 in Eufaula, Oklahoma. They moved to Headrick shortly after their marriage and raised their family in a loving environment. Joe worked in Civil Service in the C.E. Division at Altus Air Force Base for twenty-two years. He was also a licensed real estate agent, licensed fire investigator, and worked for the Headrick Water Department. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #62 in Altus and was also a member of the Full Gospel Church. He loved fishing and spending time with his animals.
Joe is survived by his wife, Mildred Bailey, of the home in Headrick; a son, Joe Lynn Bailey and wife Gaylynn of Harrah, Oklahoma; two daughters, Tammy Bailey and husband Geno Diaz of Plano, Texas, and Melissa Bryant of New Iberia, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Michael Beach, Billy Beach, Corporal Jeremy Lee Diaz and wife Jessica, and Nanci Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Jaxen Walker Diaz, Jenna Jaymes Diaz, Elijah Johnson, Ethan Johnson, and Aubrey Lewis; three sisters, Barbara Hawkins, Betty Dirks, and Bonnie Bailey; one brother, John Bailey, and a very special friend, Jane Tomkinson. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jim Bailey.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will hold private services at a later date. Lowell-Tims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
