Josie Hansel, age 59, of Norman and formerly of Altus, passed away late Saturday evening, May 19, 2007 at her home in Norman with here family at her side

Josie was born on July 16, 1947, to Eleuterio and Remedios (Jarilla) Espinola in Manila, Philippines. As a professional singer, in 1968, Josie began a tour of Vietnam entertaining the American Troops. While on the tour, she met her future husband, Jay, while he was serving in the United States Air Force. Josie left Vietnam fort the United States to await Jay's arrival and they were married on August 22, 1970, in Appleton Wisconsin. Shortly afterwards, Jay was assigned to Altus Air Force Base where they made their home. Following several assignments overseas and to Oscoda, Michigan, the Hansels returned to Altus in 1991, and lived until their move to Norman in 2003. Josie was a gifted singer who loved to praise God and spread the Gospel in song. While in Altus, Josie established the "He Chose Me" women's ministry and also had the "Encourager" KKVO Radio for several years. Ministering to everyone was her vocation, while loving her family and being with them gave her joy in life.

Preceded in death by her parents and one sister, she is survived by her loving husband, Jay, of the home; three children, Gina Wintermark-Hansel and husband Max Wintermark of San Francisco, California, Russell Hansel and wife Nelly of Altus and Janette Schulz and husband Chad of Norman; two grandchildren, Aracel Hansel and Andrew Schulz; four sisters, Connie Camet, Vangie Espinola, Myriam Dinnell and Purita Espinola; eight brothers, Willie Espinola, Ely Espinola, Rolando Espinola, Roger Espinola, Nelson Espinola, Nap Espinola, Noel Espinola and Boyet Espinola along with many other relatives and a host of friends

Funeral services for Josie Hansel will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Wiginton and Rev. James Ehrlich officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

The family will greet friends on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, from 7 until * P.M. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
