Joyce Ann Rogers, age 58 of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Monday, April 3, 2000 at the Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born July 2, 1941 in Orange, Virginia to Jessie Lee and Edith Lucille (Armstrong) Carpenter. Joyce had lived in the Altus area since 1954. On December 24, 1959 in Altus, Oklahoma, Joyce and Rolland Rogers were united in marriage.
Joyce worked as a cook for the Altus Public School System for many years. She retired in 1987. Joyce was very active with the Silver Bells Dance Club, DAR, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Daughters of Confederacy. Joyce enjoyed Spending time with her family and friends and her four special "pets". She was a member of the Baptist Church.
She is survived by her mother Edith Lucille Carpenter of Altus, Oklahoma, husband Rolland Rogers of the home in Altus, Oklahoma, four children, Pam Rogers and husband John of Altus, Oklahoma, Cindy Biddy and husband Mark of Altus, Oklahoma, Kevin Rogers and wife Shandra of Olustee, Oklahoma, Michael Rogers and wife Rhonda of Altus, Oklahoma; eight Grandchildren, Cortney Ro0gers, Sarah Rogers, Elizabeth Rogers, Danny Rogers, Kyle Rogers, McKenzie Rogers; two step-grandchildren Laura and Stephanie Biddy. She is preceded in death by her father, Jessie Lee Carpenter, October of 1982, one niece Darla Hill.
Funeral Se4rvices are scheduled for Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at 4:00 p.m. in the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Sonny Tims officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery.
