Obituary for Juanita Doris Hopper
Juanita Doris Hopper, 92, resident of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Juanita was born on June 2, 1928 in Ocina, Oklahoma to Wendell and Opal McGee. Juanita graduated from Ocina High School in 1945 After graduation, she married the love of her life Jesse Hopper on July 31, 1946, of this marriage, the two were blessed with five children; Butch, Eugene, Teresa, Doyle, and Sandy.
Juanita worked on the family farm, pulling cotton among other responsibilities until 1956. She had numerous jobs during her lifetime, some of which include, working at the Willow Café, Hobbs Donuts, she was also a secretary for Howards Butane for several years, and she spent twenty-one years at Kellwoods as a seamstress. Juanita was a talented cook, baker and seamstress. She is known for her fried pies and pies she made for Hamburger Inn. She was also an avid domino player and collected many trophies over the years, including one from the World Domino Tournament where she and her husband, Jesse took first place. She also enjoyed putting puzzles together, square dancing and watching sports. People around Mangum refer to Juanita as “the biggest tiger fan.” She loved watching her grandkids play sports, and you could find her every Friday night cheering on her tigers. She was also a big Thunder Basketball fan and Ranger’s Baseball fan. Juanita was a kind woman and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Husband of fifty-eight years, Jesse Hopper; Brothers, Lee McGee and Leon McGee; Sisters, Ruby Blankenship, and Velma Blair; and Grandson, Gary Whitehead.
Left to honor her memory are her sons, Butch Hopper, Eugene Hopper, Doyle Hopper and wife Lisa; Daughters, Teresa Williams and husband Jim and Sandy Payne and husband David; Nineteen grandchildren; Thirty great grandchildren; One great great grandchild; As well as many loved nieces and nephews.
