Obituary for Juanita VASQUEZ Benavidez
Juanita Vasquez Benavidez, a radiant beacon of faith, a devoted mother, and a compassionate minister, entered into the eternal embrace of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 8, 2025, at the age of sixty-four. Surrounded by her loving family, she departed this world as gracefully as she lived, her heart steadfast in the love of Christ and her spirit a testament to a life well-lived in service to others.
Born on October 9, 1960, in Winters, Texas, to Wenceslau Gomez Vasquez and Irene (Rosales) Vasquez, Juanita was raised in Hollis, Oklahoma, where her deep roots of faith and family were nurtured. From an early age, her life reflected a profound commitment to God and to those around her. She pursued her passions with purpose, graduating from Aladdin Beauty Academy in Altus, Oklahoma, as a licensed beautician. Later, she obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license, dedicating over eight years to caring for residents at English Village. For Juanita, every act of service-whether styling hair or tending to the elderly-was an act of worship, a way to honor the God she loved so dearly.
On May 29, 2004, Juanita united in marriage with Jacob Benavides at Temple La Hermosa in Hollis, Oklahoma. Together, they blended their families, and Juanita embraced her role as a loving mother to Erica, Blanca, and Veronica, whom she cherished as her own. Her children-Veronica, Salvador, Santiago, Cecilia, and Victoria-were the pride of her life, and her adored grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy. Juanita's home was a sanctuary of love, filled with laughter, home-cooked meals, and heartfelt prayers. She lived out her faith in every corner of her life, ensuring that her family knew they were cherished and that Christ was at the center of it all.
In October 2018, Juanita answered God's call to ministry, becoming the lead minister at Temple La Hermosa. Her sermons radiated joy, wisdom, and an unshakable devotion to Scripture. To know Juanita was to witness the love of Christ in action-whether through her fervent prayers, her hands-on service to those in need, or her habit of infusing every conversation with praise. "Hardly a breath left her lips without glorifying her Lord," her family recalls. Her faith was not confined to the pulpit; it permeated every aspect of her life, from her work as a beautician and CNA to her quiet moments studying her Bible.
Juanita's legacy of unconditional love and faith lives on through her beloved husband, Jacob; her children, Veronica (James) Luper, Servando Galvan, Sr., Santiago (Diarra) Galvan, Jr., Cecilia Galvan Luna, Victoria Galvan, Samantha Erica (Stephen) Ceballos, Bianca Benavidez, and Veronica Benavidez; her cherished grandchildren; Servanah Galvan, Martin Inez Morales, Marquez De'Mic Galvan, Diamond Rey Morales, Arron Galvan, Kiana Jade Bishop, Lailaa Irene Medina, Salvader Gargas, III, Servando Galvan Jr. Santigo Galvan, Kristian Kyth Galvan Shia Nattali Luna Juanita Victoria Garces, Lucian Argo, Ophelia Alicia Argo, and ten great-grandchildren; her siblings, Arnold, Paul, Benjamin, Lucille, and Maria Vasquez; . She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Juan and Victor Vasquez, and her grandchildren, Carma Lynn Fennel and Victor Louis Garces.
A celebration of Juanita's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Harmon County Funeral Home in Hollis, Oklahoma, with interment to follow at Fairmount Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to local charities supporting those in need-a fitting tribute to Juanita's lifelong mission of service and her unwavering love for Christ.
Juanita's life was a living testimony to Proverbs 31:28-29: "Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 'Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.'" While her absence is deeply felt, her loved ones take comfort in knowing she now rests in the arms of her Savior, hearing the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
