Obituary for Julian Dean Marple
Julian Dean Marple, 78, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011, at Plantation Village Nursing Center in Altus, Oklahoma.
Dean was born February 27, 1932 to Ed and Johnnie (McCoy) Marple at Headrick, Oklahoma. He graduated from Headrick High School in May 1949. Dean was married to Beverly Gail Richardson on June 14, 1958 at Snyder, Oklahoma. Gail preceded him in death on November 24, 1996.
Dean retired from civil service at Altus Air Force Base on March 3, 1992 after 26 years. He worked in several areas before becoming the Superintendent of Pavement and Grounds. Dean was commended at his retirement for his distinguished service following the 1982 tornado at Altus Air Force Base and for his record of the runway never being closed for snow/ice even during a record snow event in 1987 which closed many runways in Oklahoma and Texas. Dean also helped design and construct the aircraft display at the entrance to Altus Air Force Base. Dean owned and operated a dragline crane business for many years.
Dean was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and was a fifty-three year member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gail; his parents, Ed and Johnnie Marple; and one brother, Bud Marple.
Dean is survived by his children, Karen and Aldo Sanchez of Altus and Keith and Cheryl Marple of Lawton, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Erik Marple of Lawton, Megan and George Horton of Stillwater, Tiffany Renison of Lawton, Tomas Sanchez of Altus and Juliana Sanchez of Altus; two great-grandsons, Tyler and Liam Renison of Lawton; and a special friend, Pat Nagel of Granite. He is also survivied by three sisters, Balma Tobola of Lawton, Leta and Les Autry of Altus and Jean Nordeen of Lawton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:30 am, Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Bro. Boyd Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

The family will receive guests at Lowell-Tims from 9:00 am Thursday until service time.
