Junior Zachary, Jr., age 79, lifelong resident of the Lake Creek Community and Granite, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Hobart Living Center.
Junior was born in the Lake Creek Community, Granite, Oklahoma on August 5, 1939 to his parents Bertie Leslie Zachary "Doc" and Dilia C. (Young) Zachary. Junior attended the Lake Creek School until he started working the family farm with his dad at an early age. He was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Granite. Junior had a gift with musical instruments and could play a variety of instruments by ear. He was a simple man and he truly enjoyed helping people. He would help as a handyman and mow and plow for anyone. Junior enjoyed hunting and fishing and he taught his nephews valuable lessons with shooting guns and would take them hunting and fishing. Junior loved his family and his community and he will be missed very much.
Preceded in death by his parents; his brother, J.C. Zachary; his sister, Marion "May" Embry; brother-in-law, Dwight Embry; sister-in-law, June Zachary; his nephews, Ronnie Embry and Randy Embry; Junior is survived by his brother Gene Zachary and wife Sue of Elk City; nephews, Doug Zachary and wife Marlene of Clute, Texas; Nick Zachary and wife Jennifer of Sayre, Oklahoma; and David Zachary and wife Teresa of Granite; niece-in-law, Darlene Embry of Oklahoma City; as well as his great nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.
The family will greet friends at visitation from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday evening, June 11,2 019 at the Greer Funeral Home in Granite.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Granite.
Interment will follow at the City Cemetery in Granite under the direction of Greer Funeral Home, Granite, Oklahoma.
