Katsuko Betty Bond, of Mangum, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at an Oklahoma City Nursing Center.
Mrs. Bond was born in Yokahama Japan to Mohei and Hori Yamada. Growing up and attending school in Yokahama, she met Elbert Cecil Bond in 1953 and they were married on November 22, 1955. In 1957 they moved to California and on to Oklahoma in December 1960. In December 1965 they moved to Mangum where they lived until January 2011. For fifteen years Betty worked at Mangum City Hospital, retiring in 1992. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting, cooking, gardening and taking care of her cats.
Preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Terry, in 1977, she is survived by her husband, Elbert, of the home; two sons, John Bond of Austin, Texas and Gary Bond and wife Wendy of Oklahoma City and two grandchildren, Nathan Bond and Megan Bond, of Oklahoma City along with many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Betty Bond will be at 2 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2013, at Riverside Cemetery with T.A. Allen officiating. Services are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
