Obituary for Kent LaDon Pence
Kent LaDon Pence, age 84, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2021 at Weatherwood Assisted Living Community in Weatherford, Oklahoma after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Kent was born in Vinson, Oklahoma on May 25, 1939 to Everett Jessie and Mary Vivian (Snider) Pence. Kent was the youngest of 3 children. Kent grew up in Vinson, Oklahoma. He graduated from Vinson Public Schools in 1955. He continued his studies at Southwestern Oklahoma State University graduating in 1959 with a Bachelors of Education, later returning to obtain his Masters of Education along with other numerous certifications. He married the love of his life Janis Daliese Chambers on May 28, 1960. They made their home in Vinson, Ok and had 61 wonderful years together. Kent was not only Involved with farming and ranching throughout his life but was also a respected Educator at Hollis Public Schools in Hollis, Oklahoma. Kent and Daliese enjoyed traveling, taking many trips to Branson with dear friends. Kent also enjoyed refereeing basketball games, golf, fishing and spending time working on the ranch. Kent was happiest when he and Daliese were ranching and farming together. Kent was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Joy and husband Lowell Bilbrey, and brother Max and wife Peggy. He is survived by 4 nieces, Judy Atkinson of Borne, TX, LaDonna Taylor and husband Chris of Townsend, TN, and Mitzi Dissmore and husband Chris of Bluff Dale, TX along with one nephew Lyndon Pence and wife Janet of Hydro, OK as well as many great nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends. A grave side service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cave Creek Cemetery (c/oLeona Sherrill, 14669 Hwy 30, Vinson, OK 73571) where Kent will be laid to rest.
