Obituary for Kirk William Humble
Kirk William Humble, 62, found peace with his Lord on Thursday, November 24th, 2011 at his home in Altus, Oklahoma.
Kirk was born on March 21, 1949 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Elzie and Billie (Perry) Humble. Kirk was raised in Chattanooga, Oklahoma and graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1967. While attending Cameron University, Kirk married his sweetheart, Linda Goeringer, on July 6, 1968.
Kirk felt duty call in 1969 and joined the United States Air Force. Kirk served our country in Thailand during the Vietnam War in 1971 and 1972. After twenty years of honorable service, Kirk retired from the Air Force in 1989. After residing in several wonderful cities throughout his service with the Air Force, as far north as Minot, North Dakota and as far south as Austin, Texas, the family made their home in Altus, Oklahoma. In 1996 Kirk began his new career at Bar-S in Altus as a maintenance supervisor. Kirk worked 15 years with Bar-S until his retirement in 2011.
Kirk enjoyed Lake Altus and spent many summer weekends fishing with his family on his boat. He relished the moments with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His favorite memories were as "Papa" and these children have cherished every moment they had with him.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Goeringer) Humble; a daughter, Karri (Humble) Dickerson; a son and daughter-in-law, Kasey and Courtney (Mahan) Humble; six grandchildren, Tanny and Brittany (Jeschke) Mungaven, Tori Jeschke, Cabe Dickerson, Grace Humble and Elizabeth Humble; three great-grandchildren, Lexi Mungaven, Kamdyn Mungaven, and soon to arrive Falynn Litton, all of Altus; one brother, Keith Humble of Oklahoma; three sisters, Karen (Humble) Carson of Cleburn, Texas, Kathy (Humble) Bertwell and her husband Danny of Guthrie, Oklahoma and Kayla Humble of Wichita Falls, Texas; three brothers-in-law, Jerry Goeringer and his wife Mary of South Dakota, Glen Goeringer and is wife Cleta of Abilene, Texas and Bill Goeringer and his wife Velvalie of South Dakota; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Hoagland of Wichita Falls, Texas and Nancy (Goeringer) Bohl and her husband JW of Chattanooga, Oklahoma; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Kirk in death are his parents, Elzie and Billie Humble.
A service will be held at Lowell-Tims Chapel on Wednesday, November 30th at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga Cemetery.
The family will receive guests at Lowell-Tims on Monday evening from 6:30 until 7:30.
