Lahoma Lee Stanley came into this world on October 26, 1923, in Eldorado, Oklahoma. She was the only child of Elsie and Lote Stanley. She went to be with her loving savior, Jesus, on March 20, 2017 at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by both of her parents. What a reunion they will have!
We are here to celebrate Lahoma"s life, which was filled with love, peace, joy, kindness, gentleness, and selflessness. If you knew her only in her elderly years, you missed some of her greatest joys in life. We will remember Lahoma: Smiling as she learned to gather the eggs in the hen house, with her Mom by her side. Beaming with pride as she told her school friends about the huge catfish her Dad caught using his famous "stink" bait. Running excitedly through the watermelon patch to choose her fresh afternoon snack. Confirming a job well done, when at the end of the day, she had sore back muscles and painful cut fingers from picking cotton in her teenage years. Clapping and singing as her Mom played old gospel songs on the piano. Grinning sheepishly as she sat in the shade of a mulberry tree, munching on ice on a warm spring day. Laughing loudly as she watched Ronnie and Pearl"s five wild Williams children climb trees, do cartwheels and turn their backyard into a three-ring circus on a hot summer night. Sharing her paintings of wildflowers, this portrayed her love of nature. Helping friends, when they lost a loved one.
Her cats were her best friends and she snuggled with them on the fluffy feather mattress that was covered with beautiful quilts. When she moved to the nursing home, her lovely cats had to stay behind. However, she quickly and lovingly adopted two toy cats which she named Mack and Mike. She carried her cats with her everywhere, even while eating her favorite food"grilled cheese sandwiches!
We will miss you, Lahoma, and we love you. Death is not the end, for love goes on.
Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, March 22, 2017 at the Eldorado Cemetery in Eldorado, Oklahoma under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
