LaJune White, age 81, of Altus, passed away Thursday evening, June 22, 2017, at her residence, with her loving family at her side.
LaJune was born in Blair, Oklahoma on April 4, 1936, to Hallen Vinson and Sybil (Stovall) McGuffin. LaJune began school in Blair, later attended Friendship and graduated from Altus High School in 1955. LaJune attended business school, in Oklahoma City and later worked for OG & E while there. Returning to Altus, she worked for Red River Credit Union and on May 3, 1965, LaJune married the love of her life, Wayne White, and they spent the next fourteen years together, before his untimely death on September 22, 1979. LaJune began working at the Jackson County Court Clerk"s office and for the next twenty-seven years she worked as a deputy court clerk, serving the citizens of Jackson County. In 2001, LaJune was elected City Clerk, for the City of Altus and served the citizens of Altus for the next ten years, retiring at the age of 75. After her retirement, LaJune spent her years taking care of her family and loving on her grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband and two sisters, Geraldine McGuffin and Jean Worrell, she is survived by three children, Jimmy White and wife Stephanie of Ft. Worth, John White of Altus and Angela Dugan and husband David of Altus; twelve grandchildren, Chad White, Amber White, Brent White, Ashley White, Amanda Allen, Justin Raburn, Kelby Raburn, Jack White, Jessica White, Haley Dawn Tice, Rebecca Lynn Tice and Cayti Paige Dugan; thirteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for LaJune White will be at 2 p.m., Monday, June 26, 2017, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel, in Altus, with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
