Obituary for Laura Anne Woodress
Laura Anne Wesbrooks Woodress, age 56, passed away on December 21, 2017.
Laura was born May 19, 1961 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Billie Jean and Bobbie Jean Wesbrooks. Laura was presented as a Debutant her senior year from the Wichita Falls Women"s Forum. She attended Wichita Falls High School where she was a cheerleader, voted a "Beauty" her senior year, and graduated in 1979. She married her high school sweetheart Mark Woodress on May 15, 1982.
Laura and Mark moved to Altus, Oklahoma in 1982 where Laura helped Mark at Jones Pawn Shop, then worked as a nail technician before becoming a stay at home mother. She was very involved in the youth ministry at First Baptist Church. Later, Mark and Laura opened a store next door to the pawn shop called Off Broadway, which was open for over 4 years.
Laura will be remembered for her beautiful smile, amazing laugh and her love for her family.
She is survived by her child, Meredy Thompson and her husband Michael, Altus; two grandchildren, Merrick and McCrae Thompson, Altus; former husband, Mark Woodress, Altus; and twin sister Lori Drury, Wichita Falls.
The family will be receiving friends Friday, December 29, from 6-7:30 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home; 1100 East Tamarack, Altus, Oklahoma
