Katie Lavesta Hazel Johnson Garren Katie Lavesta Hazel Johnson Garren passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2000 at her home in Eldorado at the age of 85. She was born July 19, 1915 in Lakeview Texas. She was the daughter of Joseph Porter and Lula Katie (Stephens) Johnson. She was married i 1934 in Memphis,
Texas to Marion Albert Garren. Lavesta and Marion were married for forty-eight years until his death in August 1982. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Mary Michelle Glenn, age 21; a sister Lorene Johnson George; and by one brother, Ben Johnson. Mrs. Garren worked outside of the home until she was seventy years old. She and her husband were farmers and later owners and operators of the Garren Ice Plant. Mrs. Garren's career also included employment at the E & E Cafe, Brownlow Boat Company, Bob Thomas Manufacturing, and DeLong Cap Company. She was longtime member of the Nazarene Church. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son, Monte Carroll Garren of Eldorado, Oklahoma; her daughter Sheri Lea Millar of Clemson, South Carolina; one brother, J. P. "Hap" Johnson of Memphis, Texas; a grandson Paul Scott Randolph; and two great grandchildren, Tercia Brittany Randolph and Jeremy Quinn Randolph. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, August 25, 2000 at the Eldorado Cemetery with Billy Hall Offici9ating. Arrangement are under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home. Mrs. Garren will lie in state at the Lowell-Tims Chapel in Eldorado at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 24, 2000 until service time on Friday.
