Lee Jay Tillman, of Vinson, Oklahoma, passed away on March 22, 2024 at the age of 66 in Amarillo, Texas.
Lee Jay was born on February 6, 1958 in Amarillo, Texas to Wilbur Dwain Tillman and Barbara K. Graves Tillman. Lee was raised in Amarillo where he graduated from Caprock High School in 1976. After graduating he moved to the family farm in Vinson, OK. He then attended Cameron University in Lawton, OK. He was married from 1978-2004 to his highschool sweetheart Kristi Ann Knapp. This marriage would be blessed with four children, Tyson, Rance, Landon, and Karissa. Lee’s first job out of college was working for Harmon County. After that he found his true calling working in the oilfield. He began working for H&P in 1982. He worked in Oklahoma from 1982-1995. His company then told him he needed to get a passport. He asked them “Why would I need a passport?” He would soon find out. He was sent all over the world to places like Columbia, where he took classes and became fluent in Spanish, Ecuador, The Amazon, Bolivia, Argentina, off the shores of Trinidad & Tobago, and
Tunisia in Africa. He worked on the JADE Project for Exon Mobile in Guinea Africa and from there went to Bahrain and the Hawar Islands. He loved his job and the people he worked with. While working in Ecuador, he met his 2nd love Alejandra, where his Spanish came in handy. They were married in July of 2005. They were blessed with one son Lee Jay Tillman Jr. “Leecito” which means little Lee. After 33 years of working for H&P he permanently moved back home to Vinson and he began working for Harmon County. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Dwain Tillman, his brother, Baron Dwain Tillman, and son, Tyson Jay Tillman.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Tillman, his children, Rance Tillman and wife Amy, Landon Tillman and wife Kendra, Karissa Sykes and husband Jason, Leecito.; grandchildren, Zoey Castillo, Jayde Tillman, Romi Tillman, Austin Tillman, Levi Tillman, Sean Snellings, Colton Sykes, mother of his children Kristi Tillman, Alejandra Tillman; nieces, Wendy Tillman, Aaron Vincent, and nephew, Baron Tillman, Jr.
The Tillman family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024, at The Hollis Church of Christ with interment to follow at Independence, Cemetery, Harmon County, Oklahoma.
