Obituary for Lee Roy Hudson
Lee Roy Hudson passed away Sunday January 6, 2019 at the North Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. Ok.
He leaves behind his wife of 66 years Sylvia (Byrd) Hudson; his son, Kent Hudson and his wife Kim McKinney, TX and son, Kurt Hudson and his wife Shannon Hudson Hollis, OK; Four grandchildren, Kyla Welch and husband Robert, Charlotte, NC , Kendi Skeen and husband Bryan, McKinney, Tx, Will Hudson Hollis, OK and Matt Hudson, Oklahoma City, OK; Four great grandchildren, Hudson Welch, Hayden Welch, Hadlee Welch and Gemma Rose Skeen.

Lee Roy was born February 4, 1932, in Harmon County Oklahoma to William Joseph and Viola (Worrell) Hudson. He began school in the Halsmith Community and also attended Westview, later graduating from Hollis High School in 1950.

While in High School Lee Roy joined the Naval Reserve, He spent his summer breaks going through training in San Diego, California. On March, 21, 1952 Lee Roy married Sylvia Lee Byrd in Hollis, Ok. In December, 1952 Lee Roy was called to active duty. Together they moved to Newport News, VA. Lee Roy was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1956. Sylvia and Lee Roy returned to Hollis to pursue farming. Sylvia and Lee Roy were blessed with two sons Kent and Kurt. He farmed the Hudson family farm est. 1917 along with several other farms through the years. He was actively involved in the farming until he retired.

In 1985 Lee Roy and Sylvia opened Hudson Equipment Co in Hollis. They operated the business until Kurt and Shannon purchased it in 2005.
Lee Roy served on the Harmon County Conservation District Board for 30 years, serving as both member and chairman. While on the local board, Lee Roy was elected to be president of the Oklahoma State Conservation Commission. Mr. Hudson went on to serve as chairman of the South Central Region of the National Association of Conservation Districts.

Lee Roy served as deacon and Sunday School Superintendent at First Baptist Church in Hollis.
Mr. Hudson served many years on the First State Bank and Trust Co board of Directors. He continued to serve on the bank board after it became Great Plains National bank. He also spent 24 years as both Director and Vice Chairman of the Farmers Union Royalty Company.

Lee Roy and Sylvia traveled extensively through the years. They enjoyed staying at their second home for many years before moving to The Fountains of Canterbury Independent Living in Oklahoma City in 2016.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 9, 2018 at the Harmon County Funeral Home in Hollis, Oklahoma.

Lee Roy's services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 10, 2019 at The First Baptist Church of Hollis. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis, Oklahoma.
