Obituary for Lee W. Cheaney
Lee W. Cheaney age 77, of Altus, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 1997 at the Altus House Nursing Home after a brief illness. Lee was born January 14, 1920 at Ozark to the late Leonard and Nettie (Hawkins) Cheaney. Lee graduated from Ozark in 1938 and graduated from Cameron Junior College in 1940. On January 25, 1941 Lee and Mozette Hagood were united in marriage at Humpherys, Oklahoma. After their marriage Lee entered the United States Army, he served overseas during WWII, in the South Pacific. He was awarded the Purple Heart being wounded during WWII. He returned to Jackson County November 1945, where he farmed in the Humpherys Community and did carpentary work. He was a longtime member and served as a Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Humpherys and the First Baptist Church of Altus.
Funeral services are scheduled foir Friday, June 27, 1997 at 2:00pm at the First baptist Church in Altus with Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Mozette Cheaney of Altus, Oklahoma; children; Sandra Badalamente and husband Joe of Factoryville, Pa., Ronnie Cheaney and wife, Gina of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Rick Cheaney and wife, Becky of Altus, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, David and Kevin Badalamente of Factoryville, Pa., Todd and Mandy Cheaney of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tera Cheaney of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Carrie and Chris Cheaney of Altus, Oklahoma; one great-grandchild, Amanda Badalamente of Factoryville, Pa.; three nieces, Betty Brock, Janice Hatton, Jean Veatch; three nephews, Dean Nelson, Sonny Dean, randy Hagood.
Preceded in death by his parents one sister, Grace Nelson, one niece Gayla Phillips.
