Obituary for Lemera O. Baker
Lemera Opal Baker of Altus died Wednesday morning at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are set for 2:00pm Saturday, December 13, 1997 at First Baptist Church Altus, with Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
She was born January 6, 1910 in Greenville, Texas to Henry and Beulah (Hardy) Savage. She married James Earl Baker on September 11, 1937 and he preceded her in death December 27, 1982. They lived in Fairview, Oklahoma for many years where she taught school. She also taught for 10 years in Wellington, Kansas.
They moved to Altus in 1971. She was a longtime member of the Altus First Baptist Church where she taught a women's Sunday School Class.
She is preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, Eldridge Savage, James Savage, Eddie Savage, and one sister Julia Wiginton.
Survivors include one son Andy Baker of McAllen, Texas, three grandsons, Brad, Doug, and Mark Baker and one great-granddaughter Alexis Baker; two brothers, Odell
Savage of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Marlon Savage of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and one sister Ines Storkes of Grand Prairie, Texas.
