Obituary for Leola Hazel Shepherd
Leola Hazel Shepherd age 81, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday February 23, 1999 at English Village Nursing Home. She was born September 24, 1917 at Supulpa, Oklahoma to the late John C,. and Hazel (Hamlin) Sledge.

On July 2, 1935 she and H.R. Shepherd were united in marriage at Chester, Arkansas. He preceded her in death in 1986. After their marriage Mr. Shepherd's career took the Shepherds to Kansas, Texas, followed by years in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Bartlesville, and eventually Supulpa where they made their home for 24 years. After a year in San Diego, California Mrs. Shepherd moved to Altus to live with her granddaughter Becky Braddock and her family. Mrs Shepherd was a homemaker and wing mother, raising both her children and 3 grandchildren. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sapulpa, a Rainbow Advisor, and Girl Scout Leader. She and her husband were 25 years supporters of the Boy Scouts of America, being recognized with the Silver bear Award. she also enjoyed many years of service as a Red Cross volunteer.

Memorial services is scheduled for Friday, February 26, 1999 at 1:00pm at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Pate officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Survivors include 3 brothers, John c. Sledge, Jr. and wife Betty of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Arthur Sledge and wife Grace of California and Joe Moore of Borger, Texas.
