Leonard A. Padgett 92, passed away Friday, March 17, 1995, in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He was born June 15, 1902 in Crockett, Texas to Charles and Dena (Duren) Padgett.
On April 23, 1927, Leonard and Meleda E. Hoehne were united in marriage at Altus, Oklahoma.
Mr. Padgett was a farmer for 26 years and owner of Padgett Rentals for 37 years. He was an active member of the Blair Baptist Church.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Cleburn Padgett in 1941; and a brother Helon Padgett in 1930.
He is survived by Meleda, his wife of 67 years; two daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Bill Elkins of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Helen and Chuck Paris of Altus; two sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Juanita Padgett of Altus, and Wilburn and Nancy Padgett of Petaluma, California; two sisters, Zelma Huffman of Quitman, Texas and Dessie Fulgham of Mineola, Texas; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
