BROWN
Lester Brown, age 78 of Quanah, Texas and a longtime resident of the Southwestern Oklahoma area, passed away early Sunday morning, July 24, 2016 at his home in Quanah.
Lester was born in Allen, Oklahoma on March 22, 1938 to his parents Otto and Myrtle (White) Brown. He grew up in Frederick, Oklahoma and began farming and ranching at an early age. Lester and his brother Robert farmed and ranched in the Tipton area for many years and later he worked cattle in Hess, Oklahoma for Erby Hunter. Lester also worked for Tillman and Jackson Counties driving road graders until he retired. Lester loved being a cowboy, riding horses, and working cattle. In his spare time he was known for harassing his grandkids and he always enjoyed being with his family.
Preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Brown; two sisters, Wanda Jo Brown; and Frances Cox; Lester is survived by three daughters, Delana Duncan and husband Robert of Quanah; Carla Thompson and husband James of Vernon; and Deborah Nunley and husband Greg of Tipton; one brother, Ollen Brown and wife Nancy of Roosevelt, Oklahoma; four sisters, Joyce Jackson of Missouri; Mary Helen Tolentino of Apache, Oklahoma; Arlene Stanford and husband Mark of Austin, Texas; and Stella Cox of Ohio; eight grandchildren, Melody Majors and husband Josh, Alyson Duncan, and Emily Duncan; Dustin Thompson and wife Monica, Bradley Thompson and wife Emily; Megan Nunley, Logan Nunley, and Devin Nunley; six great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and friends.
The family of Lester Brown will greet friends at visitation from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, July 27, 2016 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus with Josh Crow officiating. Interment will follow at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery in Fredrick, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
