Obituary for Lester Royce Jones
Lester Royce Jones, age 66, of Altus, Oklahoma, was born June 14, 1930, in Ralls, Texas, the son of William M. Jones and Jessie Lee (Grisham) Jones. Mr. Jones passed away Thursday, August 15th, 1996, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 17, 1996 in the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Everett Smalts officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery, under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
On May 1, 1948, he and Carmen Buck were united in marriage at Sherman, TX. Mr. Jones had been an Altus resident for 22 years, having moved here in 1974 from Tipton, OK. He was a retired employee of Yates Implement Co. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altus. Throughout Mr. Jones' life, he was an avid reader.
Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 N.E. 13th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73104.
Survivors include: his wife, Carmen Jones of the home; three children, Beverly Fesmire and husband James W. of Clinton, OK, Nikki A. Jones and wife Kay of Belfair, WA and Patricia Lynn Lackey and husband Billy Wayne of Elk City, OK; two sisters, Nelda Flowers of Dallas, TX and Joyce Freeman of Cibalo, TX; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sister-in-laws, Helen Jones of Garland, TX and Juanita Jones of Mesquite, TX.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, J.W. and Coy Jones; one granddaughter.
