Guajardo, Librada (Libby) 94, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at home. Librada was born the daughter of Bernabe Soto and Juana Galvan on October 25, 1928, in Brownsville, TX. Librada Soto and Santiago Guajardo were united in marriage on July 22, 1950, in Brownsville, TX. Librada was an avid seamstress, and mother. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Relief Society, and Eastern Stars. Libby met Santiago while working at Woolworth’s in Brownsville, TX and then, went to work at McNair factory as a seamstress. Libby retired as a seamstress from Kellwood manufacturing company in Altus, Ok. She worked many part time jobs including Central Pharmacy, Altus Bowling Alley, Criscinda’s, and at Altus AFB. She was also a foster parent for DHS for a short time. Libby was well known for hobbies that she shared with many people in the community, family and wherever she went. She loved sewing, quilting, gardening, visiting family and friends, traveling and family history. She was preceded in death by her parents Bernabe and Juana Soto, her husband, Santiago Guajardo; a son named Juan Manuel Guajardo, three brothers: Carlos Soto, Reyes Soto and Candelario Soto, one sister: Altagracia Buchanan, and one grandson named Samuel Benjamin Lee Hall. Survivors include one brother: Andres Soto and wife Olivia of Arlington, TX. 6 children: Maria Marta Ozbun and late husband Harry of Wichita, KS, Noe Guajardo of Hobart, OK, Jane Hays and husband Dan of Portland, OR, Israel Guajardo and partner Michael Raillard of Fort Worth, TX, Sarah Oswald and husband John Thomas of Wichita, KS, Darla Ruth Lester and husband Jerry of Boulder Creek, CA. Other survivors include 14 grandchildren: Candida Cutrer, Cynthia Burdick, Harry Ozbun III, Christa Capps, Terri Jane James, Tanya Hays, Armani Hays, Caige McConnell, Ryan Oswald, Jake Oswald, Alexis Oswald, Austin Oswald, Natasha Harbert, and Tiffany Staggerda; 14 great grandchildren include: Jace Harbert, Eevee McClelland, Kale McClelland, Corina Cutrer, Alyssa Glasgow, Kevin Burdick, Amanda Bowers, Eric Burdick, Justyce Meireis, Kaelynne Meireis, Johanna Meireis, Zoe Oswald, and Alexander Oswald; one great-great granddaughter, Iris Bowers.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2023, at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma. Visitation will also occur 10:00 a.m. - 10:50 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home Chapel, Altus, Oklahoma with burial to follow at the Altus Cemetery on Falcon Rd and Veteran’s Drive. The dedication of the grave by Harry Ozbun III.
Services are under the direction of Lowell - Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
