Lillian L. Jones, 86, of Martha, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2010, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton.
Lillian was born May 2, 1924, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Virgil M. and Etta Mae (Rutledge) Stephens. She married Paul A. Jones October 10, 1942, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. She had lived in Jackson County since 1947 and worked as a seamstress at Powder Puff and Town & Country clothing stores in Altus for many years. Lillian was a member of the Home Extension Club and Professional Business Women"s Association. She also enjoyed working in her garden, canning, and making all kinds of crafts. Lillian made many of her children and grandchildren"s clothes during their growing up years and was a wonderful cook. She was well known as being a "peace-keeper." All who knew Lillian will miss her.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul, one son, Lannie Jones, five sisters, and four brothers, Lillian is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Galle of Martha, Oklahoma, and Mary Norton of Garland, Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie Wiedeman and husband David, Michele Galle, Cynthia Aicher and husband Jim, Paul Galle and wife Jill, Renee Browning and husband Scott, Yvonne Hanks, Sean Norton and wife Barbara, Justin Jones and wife Danyale; great-grandchildren, George Wiedeman, Hailey Harris, Holli Galle, Dawson Aicher, Grant Aicher, Evan Galle, Meagan Galle, Taylor Browning, Heather Browning, Reagan Browning, Cameron Browning, Hallie Hanks, Hunter Hanks, Preston Jones, Kelsey Jones, and Lanieray Jones. She is also survived by three sisters, Mattie Moore, Loretta Potarf, and Veretta Dale, one brother, Vernon Stephens, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends on Friday, September 10, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Memorial Donations may be made in Lillian Jones" name to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Foundation.
Funeral Services for Lillian Jones will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the Martha Road Baptist Church north of Altus with Steve Orick officiating. Interment will follow at the Martha Cemetery in Martha, Oklahoma, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
