Obituary for Lillie Mae Marquart
Lillie Mae Marquart, age 94, of Lawton and formerly of Duke, passed away Friday evening, May 16, 2008, at The Village on Lee in Lawton.
Mrs. Marauart was born on September 18, 1913, in Martin's Mill, Texas to Lafayette and Rosa Lena (Green) Bass. With her mother's death at her birth, Lillie Mae moved to Tishomingo as a small child with her father. Later moving to Prairie Hill, she began school and graduated from Prairie Hill High School. After graduation she and her father moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma where she attended Southwestern College for two years before she returned to Prairie Hill and married the love of her life, Gib Marquart, on November 16, 1934. Establishing a home on the farm, South of Duke in the Prairie Hill Community, she and Gib were involved in farming and their work with the United Methodist Church of Prairie Hill for many years. After Gib's retirement in 1978, they moved to Duke and made their home until his death on Jul 21, 1995.Lillie Mae was very involved with her church activities and enjoyed quilting. She also loved to spend time with her family and friends. In March of 1999, Lillie Mae moved to Lawton, to The Village on Lee. On November 16, 1986, Gib and Lillie Mae celebrated their fiftieth anniversary at the Duke Methodist church with their children, family and many friends in attendance.
Mrs. Marquart was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Dura Burnside and three brothers, Earl Bass, Fred Bass and Grady "Bud" Bass.
Survivors include three children, Wydon Warren and husband Troy of Lawton; Jerry Marquart and wife Karla of Duke and Vida Hamar and husband Jerald of Hydro; six grandchildren, Michael Warren and fiance Susanne Gillespie of Lawton and her daughter Cindy; Denise Howard and her husband Kevin of Springfield, Missouri; Mitzi Marquart of Cleburne, Texas; Kacy Marquart of Duke; Pendra Cook and husband Terry of Hydro and Lanny Hamar of Yukon; three great-grandchildren, Mitchell Howard and Garrett Howard of Springfield, Missouri and Kason Cook of Hydro; one sister-in-law, Roverta Henderson of Moore; four nephews, Donald Bass, Nolan Bass, Roger Bass and Elvin Burnside and two nieces, Helen McElvany and Freda Ratzlaff, along with many friends.
Funeral services for Lillie Mae Marquart will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 19, 2008, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Elbert Schumaker officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
The family will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 until 5 p.m.
