Obituary for Linda Jean Townsend
Linda Jean Townsend, 69, of Clinton, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010, at Intregris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Linda was born November 1, 1940, in Mineola, Texas, to Bernice Braxton and Nettie Belle (Dennis) Seay. She was raised in the Navajo and Friendship area in Jackson County. Linda graduated high school and attended college for several semesters. She married Melton Perry Townsend June 22, 1957, in Altus, Oklahoma. Her favorite hobby was working crossword puzzles every Sunday.
Preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Nettie Seay, one son, Melton Perry Townsend, II, and a sister, Shirlin Bernice (Seay) McClure, she is survived by her husband, Melton Perry Townsend, of the home in Clinton; two children, son, Steve Townsend and wife Charlene of Lubbock, Texas, and Tammy Frizzell and husband Rodney of Newcastle, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Linda Townsend will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2010, at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Pastor James Frizzell officiating. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
