She was born on August 17, 1943, in Willow, Oklahoma, to Benjamin Franklin "Toy" Fugitt and Viola Fugitt. The third child in her family, Linda grew up alongside her siblings Gerald, Floyd, and Benny, forming the deep family bonds that would anchor her entire life.
Raised in northern Greer County, Linda attended school in Granite and graduated proudly, carrying with her the strong work ethic and down-to-earth values of her rural upbringing. After high school, she began her career in retail in Altus, Oklahoma. Ambitious and fiercely independent, Linda soon followed opportunity to Indiana, where she worked for Sears in retail sales and made her home in Carmel. She built a life defined by determination, responsibility, and the joy she found in managing her affairs with grace and dignity.
In 2007, Linda returned to Del City, Oklahoma to be closer to her family-a decision that brought countless moments of togetherness, laughter, and love. She delighted in family gatherings, traveling with her brother, Floyd, and nurturing her beautiful flowers. A talented baker, Linda was known for the warmth she brought to kitchens and tables alike. She had a gentle humor and loved a good-natured prank, always bringing joy without ever demanding attention for herself.
Spiritually quiet yet deeply rooted in faith, Linda read her Bible faithfully and cherished her personal relationship with Christ. She lived with kindness, independence, and a steady, calming presence. Her life was thoughtfully organized, respectful toward others, and filled with the kind of compassion that made everyone feel welcome in her company.
Linda leaves behind her brother, Benny Fugitt; nieces, Susan Gaston and Darla McKenzie, nephews, Richard Fugitt, Jackie Van Thomas and Clifford Thomas; and many great-nieces and great-nephews including Tracy Johnson, Boston Fugitt, Ryan Thomas, Vanisa Thomas, Krista Flowers, Kara Hartness, LaDonna Pauley, Jennifer Dollins and Seth Thomas ; along with a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Linda Sue Fugitt lived a life marked by quiet strength, gentle humor, and unwavering love. Though she never sought the spotlight, her presence lit every room she entered. She will be remembered with gratitude, admiration, and deep affection by all who were blessed to know her.
