Obituary for Lois Galena Charletta Southall
Lois Galena Charletta Southall, age 92, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Lois was born to Charles Madison Butchee and Galena (Whortan) Butchee on April 2, 1914 in Blair, Oklahoma.
Lois married George Luther "Luke" Southall in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After 46 wonderful years of marriage, he preceded her in death on September 24, 1997.
She was a life long resident of Jackson County; she was a member of the Blair Methodist Church where she enjoyed playing the piano for many years. She served as secretary/treasurer of the Blair Cemetery association, she was active in the Blair Alumni and could narrate events throughout the history of the Blair community and Jackson County. She greeted and assisted the members of the Blair community during her 26 years of service with Peoples State Bank in Blair.
She always had a subtlety presences, her selfless and whole hearted philosophy on life was a characteristic she portrayed in every aspect of life, her unconditional love for family, friends and community was evident in her conduct and notable words of wisdom. She always saw the good in others and welcomed the opportunity to visit with new friends and reminisce with cherished companions.
Lois is survived by her two nieces, Wanda Veum and husband Dr. James Veum of Appleton, Wisconsin and Jo Davis of Blair, Oklahoma; four nephews, James W Echols and wife Carol of Ft Collins, CO., Frank Lollar of Phoenix, Arizona, Dennis Lollar and wife Fran of Ann Harbor, Michigan, John Butchee and wife Linda of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; niece in law, Iverna Kennedy and husband Pat of Blair, Oklahoma; fourteen great nieces and nephews; twenty six great great nieces and nephews and one great great great nephew and a host of friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Cleo Echols, Hazel Lollar, one brother, Charles A Butchee, one nephew, Dee Butchee, Millie Lollar and Barry Davis.
Services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 10:00 am at the Methodist Church in Blair, Oklahoma, with Rev. George Lupton officiating. Interment will follow at the Blair Cemetery.
The family of Lois Southall will greet guest Friday, May 20, 2005 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
