Obituary for Lois Madge Smith
SMITH
Lois Madge Smith, 92, a longtime resident of Eldorado, passed away on March 7, 2009, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Lois was born on December 20, 1916, in Quanah, Texas, to Lester and Willie Gossett. She married George Henry Smith on August 13, 1932. They made their home in Eldorado where they celebrated 51 years of marriage together. Lois was a loving wife and devoted mother. Family always came first and she and her husband were loving caregivers to their parents and their daughter for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Lois is survived by two daughters, Paula Ledbetter and Ann Tinney, both of Eldorado; one son, Bill Smith and wife Pam of Blue Springs, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Joy Whitlock and husband Mark of Altus; Danny Campsey of Quanah, Texas; Billy Ray Tinney, David Ledbetter and wife Tabitha, and Jimmie and Michael Tinney, all of Eldorado; Savannah Smith of Blue Springs, Missouri; Bobby Smith and wife Alice of Alliance, Nebraska; Billy George Smith of Altus, and Tina Sparkman of Quanah. She is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Lois was especially proud of having five generations of girls. A sister-in-law, Peggy Gossett, of Quanah, Texas, and special cousin Willie Jo Seitz, also survives her.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, George Smith; daughter, Eva Lois Brewer; grandson, Jimmy Paul Tinney; great-granddaughter, Kassie May Sparkman; brother, Clinton Gossett; and parents Lester and Willie Gossett and William and Nancy Smith.
Funeral services for Lois Smith will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Eldorado First Baptist Church, with the Reverend Pete Wylie officiating. Interment will follow at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Eldorado.
The family will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Eldorado on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, from 6 until 7 p.m.
