Obituary for Loyd W. Spence
Loyd Wayne Spence age 77 of Headrick, Oklahoma passed away July 14, 2019 in Oklahoma City at OU Medical Center.
Loyd was born on March 22, 1942 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to his parents Archie Chester Spence and Susie (Long) Spence. Loyd was a proud to call himself a resident of southwest Oklahoma and he primarily grew up in the Jackson County, Oklahoma communities. Loyd served his country in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. On November 18, 1960 he married Priscilla "Sug" Bell in Geronimo, Oklahoma and they have enjoyed over 59 years of marriage together. As a young family Loyd and Sug made their first home in Mountain Park, Oklahoma and later to Geronimo, Oklahoma where he worked at as a Barber at the Fort Sill Army Post. They moved to Satanta, Kansas where Loyd worked as a frame carpenter and a few short years later Loyd and family moved to Headrick, Oklahoma where Loyd has resided since 1974 where he worked as a Barber in Altus for many years until he retired in 1999. He was a member of the Headrick First Baptist Church and was baptized on November 20, 2005. Throughout the years Loyd enjoyed hunting and fishing, going to flea markets and estate sales, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and playing around with his grandkids and he will be missed very much.
Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy and Rayford Spence; two sisters, Joy Laguinta Spence; and Delories Spence; and daughter-in-law, Diania Spence.
Loyd is survived by his wife Priscilla "Sug" Spence; two sons, David and Dale Spence; daughter-in-law, Pam Spence; three sisters, Lucille Dobs; Yvonne Spence Arney; and Billie Patterson; three grandchildren, Samuel, Noah, and Candacy Spence; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
The family will greet friends at visitation from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday evening, July 19, 2019 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory in Altus, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus.
