Obituary for Lucille T. Garren
Lucille T. Garren age 89 of Altus, passed away Monday, May 19, 1997 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illiness. Lucille was born November 30, 1909 at Olustee, Oklahoma to the late Theopholis P. Thrash and Martha Lou (Mobley) Thrash. Lucille attended school at Olustee, graduating in 1927. She later attended the Altus Business College. Lucille worked many years for Watkins Dept. Store as a bookkeeper and the United Grocery Office during
World War II. Lucille and Otho L. Garren were united in marriage on July 14, 1929 at Olustee, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death in 1982. She was a longtime member pf the First Baptist Church of Altus, Order of the Eastern Star #49, L'Aguille Club, Erolethian Club where she served as Past President and member. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 21, 1997 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Altus with Reverend Keith Wigington officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Survivors include nieces; Frances Kendall of Altus, Oklahoma, Katherine Bryce and her husband Eugene of Altus, Oklahoma, Wilma Harrison of Ponca City, Oklahoma; nephew Myrl Bradley of Plainview, Texas, and a very special family friend Ruth and Kenneth Pixley of Altus, Oklahoma their two sons Marshall and Samuel Pixley of Irving, Texas, and many great nieces and great nephews and a host of friends.
Preceded in death by parents, husband, Otho L. Garren 1983, 8 sisters, and 1 brother.
