Obituary for Lucy Margaret McEndree
Lucy Margaret McEndree departed this life on August 2, 2012 at the age of 91, one day before her 92nd birthday. She was a resident of English Village Manor nursing home in Altus, OK where she died. Lucy was born August 3rd, 1920 in Eldorado, OK to William L. Gilliam and Katherine M. Dudley Gilliam.
Lucy married Louis H. McEndree on December 10, 1938 in Gould, OK. To this union was born Jerry W. McEndree, Paul W. McEndree and Melba R. McEndree. Lucy and Louis farmed mainly in southwestern Oklahoma in their younger years. They later settled in Altus. Lucy was a faithful member of Tamarack Church of Christ.
Lucy was known for her beautiful quilts. She was always a very generous, loving and giving person. Every family member and friend had one or more of her beautiful quilts. She was a good cook and anyone who visited her got to enjoy her wonderful cooking and hospitality. She was a hard worker but always had a smile on her face and a warm hug for everyone. Lucy will be greatly missed by everyone and yet we are comforted in knowing that she is in heaven with her Lord and Savior as well as the loved ones who went before her: her parents, grandparents, husband Louis, daughter Melba and son Paul, as well as her siblings: Tom, Earl & Doris Gilliam and Jane Richesin.
She is survived by her son Jerry and wife Jane McEndree of Hurst, Texas and three grandchildren: Scott and his wife Cheryl McEndree, Lori McEndree and Stephen and his wife Tonya McEndree. She had eight great grandchildren: Shawn, Chris, Bethany, Nathan, Ben, Brittany, Hope and Jonathan McEndree. Her surviving siblings are: Bert and wife Dorothy Gilliam, Raymond and wife Ann Gilliam, Lloyd Gilliam, Wayne Gilliam, George Gilliam, Mertie Van Duyne and Nettie and husband Jimmy Humphrey. She will also be missed by countless other family and friends.
Funeral services in honor of Lucy has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, August 6th, 2012 at Tamarack Church of Christ in Altus, OK with Clint Burns officiating. Interment will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family will receive guests from 4 " 6 p.m. Sunday, August 5th, 2012 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
