Obituary for Luther Brown
Luther lost a long and courageous battle with cancer at Jackson County memorial Hospital January 28, 1999.
Luther was born November 4, 1912 at Windom, Texas to Rev. and Mrs Thomas S. Brown, later moved to Hastings, OK in 1925. Luther married Edith Wood December 19, 1931 and made their home on a farm northwest of Waurika, OK. Luther farmed and was a building contractor around Waurika for several years. He worked at Sheppard Air Force Base for over 10 years. In 1966, Luther and Edeith made Altus their home, opening Brown's Appliance Center. Luther is a member of Southside Baptist Church. Luther has been a member in good standing of Waurika Masonic Lodge #531 since the early 1950's.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Edith of the home. Three children, Donald P. Brown, wife Carol of Yorba Linda, Ca, Peggy (Brown) Pena, husband Louis of Arlington, Texas and Jerry L. Brown wife Betty of Altus, Ok. Seven grandchildren, William Brown, Michael Brown, Thomas Brown, Donna Crawford, Carolyn Cox, Barbara Littlejohn, and Jerry Brown, four great grandchildren, one brother, Paul F. Brown, wife Delpha of South Houston, Texas, two sisters, Maedell Jones, husband Theodore of Hastings, OK, and Linnie Wright of Bowie, Texas and a host of nieces and nephews. Luther will be sadly missed by his loved ones and many friends.
Services will be Monda;y, February 1, 1999 at 1:00pm at Altus's Southside Baptist Church with Rev. C.W. Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery.
The family will have visitation Sunday, January 31, 1999 from 3-5pm at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
