Luther “Dwayne†Wynn, age 67, of Mangum, passed away at Great Plains Regional Medical Center, in Elk City, early Wednesday morning, December 25, 2013, as the result of a motor vehicle accident East of Mangum, Tuesday evening.
Dwayne was born in Mangum, Oklahoma on July 21, 1946, to Curtis Andrew and Wanza Lee (Baker) Wynn. He grew up in the Russell Community and graduated from the last class of Centralvue High School in 1964. He went on to graduate from SWOSU in Weatherford with a teaching degree. Dwayne was later drafted into the United States Army during the Viet Nam War and was honorably discharged. After working for a few years as a produce broker in Oklahoma City, he returned to Greer County to farm and ranch. He and Karen (McAlexander) Coffman were married on May 25, 1974. One of the greatest joys in his life was to volunteer and mentor 4-H and FFA young people. Through the years, there have been numerous young people that Dwayne has mentored while they worked for and with him on the farm. Many of these young people have grown into fine young adults and have remained close to Dwayne and Karen through the years. An active member of the Abundant Life Church, Dwayne loved the Lord and his family.
Dwayne is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Karen; his three children, Greg Wynn of rural Greer County; Kathie Wynn of Hinton, Oklahoma and Whitney Snow and husband Chris of Mangum; two granddaughters, Allie and Tessa Snow along with many other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral services for Dwayne Wynn will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the Abundant Life Church with Pastor Stephen Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
