PARKEY
Maggie Jewel Parkey, age 70, of Mangum, passed away Monday evening, August 29, 2011, at Kindred Hospital South, in Oklahoma City.
Mrs. Parkey was born in Oklahoma City on April 27, 1941, to Ollie "Pack" and Effie Jewel (LaCasse) Parkey. Maggie"s mother died the day after Maggie was born and her aunt Mable Parkey stepped in to help raise Pack and Effie"s two girls. A short time later, Pack married Mable and the family established their home in the Russell Community and lived there until moving to Mangum in the 1960"s. After Pack and Mable"s death, Maggie moved to Grace Living Center where she loved and helped care for her new family whom she dearly loved.
Preceded in death by her parents, she is survived by one sister, Julia Hendricks of Pampa, Texas; two nephews, Roy Hendricks and wife Roberta of Pampa and Bobby Hendricks and wife Charlotte of Pampa; two nieces, Gaye Whitehead and husband Rick of Pampa and Mona Ratcliff and husband Charlie of Early, Texas along with many other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Maggie Parkey will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at the Russell Cemetery with Rev. Elbert Shumaker officiating. Services are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
