Margaret S. Moss, age 98, of Hobart, formerly of Greer County, passed away early Sunday morning, November 17, 2013, at Hobart Living Center, in Hobart.
Mrs. Moss was born on September 11, 1915, in Willow, Oklahoma to Lon R. and Mary Alice (London) Singley. Moving to Mangum as a small child, she attended Mangum School and graduated with the class of 1934. On October 10, 1936, she married the love of her life, Elmo Dee (Pete) Moss, and they spent the next forty-five years wonderful years together before his death in 1981. With the death of Pete"s father in 1932, his brothers and he continued to work and farm and Pete and Margaret eventually purchased the home place and an adjoining 160 acres which they farmed until 1957. From 1946 to 1957, they ran a dairy operation along with their farming. In 1957, they moved to Socorro New Mexico where they farmed for one year and they then moved to Elk City, in 1958. In Elk City, Pete worked with his brother, Pierson for a number of years in the furniture business and Margaret was the administrator of the Elk City Hospital from 1962-1964. After Pete"s death, Margaret moved back to Mangum and rented the farm for several years. In 2005, she moved to Hobart, where she lived until her death. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and china painting into her 90"s.
Preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Cleo Martin, Mytrice (Mim) Hamilton and Francis (Pal) Wells and a son-in-law, Jim Rogers, she is survived by three children, Margaret Jo Terry and husband George of Mangum, Dee Ann Rogers of Hobart and Francis Louise Branam and husband Wayne of Hobart; nine grandchildren, Fred Terry and wife Leesa, Randall Terry and wife Sharon, Craig Rogers and wife Trina, Susan Phillips and husband Mike, Kelly Branam and wife Cara, Amy Allen and husband Shane, Dwayne Branam and wife Karla, Mack Branam and wife Stacy and John Branam; eighteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Al" Louise (Tiny) Cupp of Lake Havasu, Arizona and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Margaret Moss will be at 2 p.m., Friday, November 22, 2013, in the Greer Funeral Home Chapel with Ken Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
