Marilou Neal, age 56, of Anadarko, formerly of Altus, passed away Saturday morning, April 20, 2013, at Glenhaven Retirement Village, in Chickasha.
Mrs Neal was born in Avondale, Arizona on March 9, 1957, to Milton and Cora Lee (Williams) Neal. Moving to Frederick, Oklahoma, as a teenager, the family later moved to Altus, where she graduated from Altus High, in 1975. After receiving her registered nursing certificate from Western Oklahoma State College, she worked for a time at Jackson County Memorial Hospital and later at the Ridgecrest Group Home, in Altus, until it closed. Moving to Anadarko in 2008, she met Joe Oge, and they began a new relationship. Marilou also returned to her calling, working for Apex, as a job consultant, providing desirable employment and residential options for persons with significant mental and / or physical challenges. Marilou continued in the profession of helping others until her fight with cancer forced her retirement. A lover of Blues Music, Marilou enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading a good book and playing bingo.
Preceded in death by her father; one sister, Mildred Neal; one brother, Marcus Collins and a step son, Cory Flemons, she is survived by her husband, Joe Oge, of the home; two children, Charles Leslie Shaw, Jr., of Altus and Gladys Marie Smith and husband Gregory R. Smith, Jr., of Lawton; her mother, Cora Lee Lipscomb of Anadarko; eight brothers and sisters, Myra Patterson, Donna Reed Shepard, Doris Carruthers, Tommy Freeman, James Freeman, Ricky Neal, Carlton Neal and Dorce Collins; two step children, Leslie Norman and Anthony Flemons; nine grandchildren, Jordan, Charles, Sharee, Mahal, Char"taysia, Caleb, Indoneishia, Derrick and Dartanion, eight half brothers and sisters and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Marilou Neal will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Deacon James Laws, Jr. and Ricky Lipscom officiating. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
