Marjorie Marie Waldroop, 96, passed away on April 27, 2026, in Sayre, Oklahoma. She was born on June 2, 1929, in Martha, Oklahoma, to James Schumate and Viola (Nabors) Schumate. Marjorie grew up in the Mangum area and attended school there.
On October 1, 1946, she married the love of her life, Raymond Waldroop, in Mangum, Oklahoma. Together, they shared eighty wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, faith, and family. The couple spent time living in California before returning home to Granite, Oklahoma, where they made lasting memories.
Marjorie was a devoted homemaker who found great joy in caring for her family. She had a creative spirit and loved crafting, cooking, and baking, often sharing her talents with those she loved. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and extended family, who were the center of her world.
A woman of strong faith, Marjorie was a longtime and devoted member of the Mangum Church of Christ. She was actively involved in the church’s Women’s Club and found great fellowship and purpose in serving alongside others in her church community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Patricia Mae Kirby; her sister, Skeeter (Marcia) Avery; and her grandchildren, Adam Ray Kirby, Sara Lynn Waldroop, and David James Pestoni.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Raymond Waldroop; her son, James Ray Waldroop and wife Michelle; her grandchildren, Matt Kirby and wife Krystal, Jeremy Kirby and wife Brooke, Patricia Bryan and husband Mark, and Dylan Waldroop and wife Tiffany; along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren: Adam Kirby and wife Julie, Kaytlin Hagen and husband Edge, Charlee, Jackson, and Talula Kirby, Loren Snead, Laik and Finley Waldroop, Heather, Jasmin, Tiffany, Grayson, Annika, Zoey Bryan, Courtney and Ethan Gumpert, Leon Douglas Snead, and Bexlee and Oaklyn Kirby; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
Marjorie will be remembered for her kind heart, her unwavering faith, and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched
