Obituary for Marjorie Tigert
Marjorie Tigert, 87, of Eldorado, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012, at the Plantation Village Nursing Home in Altus.
Marjorie was born September 15, 1924, in Eldorado to William Grady and Beulah (Scott) Martin. When she was thirty-two, Marjorie proudly earned her high school diploma at Eldorado High School. Marjorie Martin married Lyle P. Tigert August 30, 1941, in Houston, Texas. She and her husband were farmers and ranchers in Jackson County. He preceded her in death in May of 1985.
Marjorie was employed at Farmers Coop in Eldorado as bookkeeper from 1957 to 1988. She served five years on the Board of Directors of the Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus. Marjorie enjoyed working in her yard and "going" with friends. She enjoyed life after her retirement. Marjorie was a member of the Eldorado Church of Christ where she was a faithful servant. She was a bookkeeper for the church and was in charge of the Benevolent Committee of the church in Eldorado, where she planned menus and made calls to other committee members to help with funeral dinners.
Preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Beulah Martin, and her husband, Lyle Tigert, Marjorie is survived by two sons, Gary Lyle Tigert and wife Susan of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Joe Tigert and wife Vicki of Burkburnett, Texas; one sister, Pat Freeman of Eldorado; three grandchildren, Lisa Tigert Reising and husband Alan, Tracy Tigert Hill and husband Mitchell, and Michael Tigert and wife Atlanta; five great-grandchildren, Abigail Hill, Blythe Tigert, Catherine Reising, Ava Grace Hill, and Luke Reising. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends who will miss her wit, charm, sweet smile, and beautiful blue eyes.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to Marjorie's church, the Church of Christ, P.O. Box 70, Eldorado, OK 73537.
The family will receive friends at Lowell-Tims Chapel in Eldorado on Monday, January 16, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, at the Church of Christ in Eldorado with Roy Christopher officiating. Interment will follow at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
